Nicaise is first introduced into the series in Chapter 2 of Captive Prince, although at that point his name is not revealed. Damen at first assumes he is Councilor Audin's pet when Audin offers to let Damen rape him. Damen is horrified at the offer, and Nicaise is obviously scared of Damen, but offended when Damen calls him a child. This is one of the first moments that Laurent looks at Damen differently, because he thought Damen would have no qualms against raping a child.
