The mirror half has a cutout near the bottom. When the Slide is closed and the tablet is covered by the mirror panel, text on the tablet instructing users to open up the Slide can be seen through the cutout in the mirror. This space could have been used in so many more useful ways. The cutout area is plenty big enough to allow for the vanity lights’ power and brightness buttons, but as it is, you can’t use the lights at all with the Slide shut. And also, there's a chunk of your mirror that is just a hole. Why?! HiMirror Plus+ can be a frustrating product at times. Its gesture controls can be unwieldy, and the software in the mirror and the app can be slow at times. In addition to this, its short cord means you're limited where you can install it. Perhaps most frustrating, however, was the feeling that you had to choose whether you were using it as a mirror or as a smart device. The mirror is largely gesture-controlled, which is incredibly cool in person. After you take a selfie, simply wave your arm in front of the mirror, which turns into a display, to move through the menu and see each component of your skin analysis. This also keeps your mirror from turning into a mess of smudged fingerprints. It feels like something of a missed opportunity that HiMirror is either a mirror or screen and doesn’t really give you the option to be a mix of both. It’d be nice, for example, to be able to reserve a portion of its surface for videos you’re watching, or the news bulletins it can provide, while you’re using the mirror at the same time.For this reason we found that we preferred to have a second mirror nearby while using HiMirror so that we could use it in this way. The problem, according to travellers, is that it may leave people fighting for overhead bin space - although UA claims they're in the process of fixing just that. The new plan would only affect those in economy, as all the other groups that usually board first will continue with that process.This thing is feature-rich. Owning a HiMirror Slide smart vanity mirror is like having a 24/7 skin care, beauty and makeup assistant. While the results weren’t dramatic, I liked my HiMirror Mini enough that when the company released their new Slide smart mirror, I forked out the cash to see how it compares.
