About this deal

The standard bottling is a 16-year-old, bottled at 43% ABV. They also bottle a Distiller's edition, finished in Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. Alongside these, they regularly release a 12-year-old cask strength version and various older and rarer expressions. of The Lagavulin distillery was bought by Ron Swanson in the last episode of the show's seventh season, titled "One Last Ride." Sometimes time can temper the beast, but we’ll also be showcasing some expressions that are everything you’d expect from Islay, and then some. Lagavulins are produced using malt that has been heavily peated. This malt is mixed with water sourced from local burns and then matured for 8-16 years in oak casks. As it matures, the smokey-peaty flavour becomes concentrated and can linger on the palate long after drinking.

Fruit tarts featuring apples or pears are an excellent pairing for Macallan 12 Double Cask. The whisky’s light sweetness enhances the natural sweetness of the fruit, while its oloroso sherry notes provide a unique depth of flavour that works to delicately balance out the sweetness. Additionally, the whisky’s intense roasted nut and malt flavours work to bring out the best in both the whisky and the tart, creating a truly indulgent tasting experience. Apple Tarte Tatin

Lagavulin is known for its producer's use of a slow distillation speed and pear shaped pot stills. The two wash stills have a capacity of 11,000 litres (2,400impgal; 2,900USgal) and the two spirit stills of 12,500 litres (2,700impgal; 3,300USgal) each. [9] Accolades [ edit ] The benchmark Lagavulin 16 year old Lagavulin Scotch was one of the six whiskies marketed as part of the ‘Classic Malts of Scotland’ when it was launched in 1988, and that only increased the demand. The Lagavulin distillery’s spirit stills are actually larger than the wash stills, along with a 4.4 ton stainless steel mash tun. Caol Ila is produced on the Isle of Islay in Scotland. Its Gaelic name literally translates to “sound of Islay,” a tribute to its origins that were established in 1846 by Hector Henderson and whose first spirit was made available two years later. Initially intended for blending purposes, it wasn’t until several decades later when their production shifted towards creating single malt whiskies with a quality sure to delight any connoisseur’s palate. Sunny beaches are terrific. But sometimes you need an experience with a little more grit, something that reflects the grimy, complex, trying, sometimes objectively bad experience of real life. For times like that, there’s Lagavulin. It’s peaty, medicinal, pungent, smoky, a Band-aid factory in the throes of catastrophic meltdown, and when you really need it, nothing else will do.

The name Lagavulin is an anglicisation of Lag a' Mhuilinn, the Scottish Gaelic for hollow of the mill. But these aspects do not undermine the whisky’s key attributes. The aroma is distinctive, filled with smoky sweetness, traces of fresh citrus, and subtle grassy notes. The finish, though not as long as its elder sibling Lagavulin 16, is satisfyingly warm and lingering. Given that many single malt scotch whiskies must be laid down years in advance before they can be sold, and whisky rides the rollercoaster of being fashionable or last week’s news as much as any luxury commodity, many distilleries hedge their bets.

Lagavulin 16 Year Old – Tinh hoa của lịch sử

To complement its smoky, sweet, and salty taste, a great food pairing would be a classic Scottish dish such as haggis or smoked salmon. Both dishes contain a variety of flavours that will accentuate the smokiness of the whisky and bring out its complex flavour profile. Additionally, a side of crispy potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a creamy mashed potato dish would be excellent accompaniments. For a sweet finish, a rich and creamy dessert like crème brulée or a classic whisky cake would be a perfect pairing. No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. The Lagavulin distillery was featured in the two-part opening episode of the show's sixth season, titled "London." [13]
