About this deal

The Primaris Ancient Knight Vexillor Possibly the easiest model to build: everything clips together easily and there’s only one visible join line on the robe function updateQty(e,t){qty=parseInt(elById(e).value),qty+=t,1>qty&&(qty=1),isNaN(qty)&&(qty=1),elById(e).value=qty}

Is this not the absolute best model to come out of a starter box, ever? The sheer wow factor of this is up there in the thousands. Perhaps it’s even over 9000! (DBZ y’all). There is nothing hard about this model at all. It’s only 11 parts on the main feature and it goes together so easily. Whilst it takes a bit of firm pushing to get her snug, there are no visible join lines across the entire surface Blending time! I mix Sotek with Ultramarines Blue Contrast in different proportions and paint that over the intermediate areas to get some smoother blends from blue to turquoise. You can see this most prominently on the greaves. I also use it for some shading. It’s a good little book. There’s minimal fluff contained within: it gives you the rules and little else. Of course, there are still some pictures of studio-quality models inside to break up the paragraphs of instructive text and inspire you to start slinging paint at your figures, but the book focuses on the core rules – and only the core rules.

Highlight armor and weapons with a VERY light drybrush of Vallejo Metal Color Exhaust Manifold (Focus near the top/front of these elements, the steel is not supposed to be shiny! Finally, it was over to Lizzie to see if she could save her Kruleboy. For each wound inflicted, the player can attempt to save their model by rolling a D6 against their model’s Save characteristic. Gutrippaz have a save of 5+, meaning only a 5 or 6 would negate the wounds. However, only able to roll a 1 and a 4, though, Lizzie could not save her Kruleboy as he was impaled on the end of the Vindictor-Prime’s Stormspear. One down, one to go. I love the first iteration of the Stormcast. Curse me, but I never cared for Warhammer Fantasy. Just not my thing. But releasing these all-powerful mythic warriors immediately got my attention. I remember the day that a White Dwarf mag came out with a free Stormcast model – the first one to come out. The one time that year I didn’t make my weekly trip to Warhammer World and by the time I learned of this free mini., the mag was sold out. Gutted.

Plastic Push-fit Citadel Miniatures: At the heart of the Dominion set are two armies of brand new miniatures, each cleverly designed so they can be pushed together without the need for glue. Each force includes a flexible range of powerful units armed with devastating weaponry and wargear, and they can easily be bolstered with additional reinforcements to act as the elite core of a larger army. These models include: Building these was a cinch and only had the odd join-line visible, though all of these are hidden in natural armour gaps anyway.For example, on sprue A, Parts 1-9 are the parts needed to build your first Gutrippa, that being the Gutrippa boss or a standard Gutrippa variant. Parts 10-12 are your second Gutrippa Parts 13-17 the next and so on… The hides were done in the same way as the Hobgrotz, only with a traditional brush instead of an airbrush. The shoulder and leg armor is also done the same way as the Hobgrot armor. The metallic faces are done with Contrast paints over metallic. Gore-grunta Fur for copper, Nazdrag Yellow for gold, and Skeleton Horde for a sort of dirty silver. The large face was Apothecary White over metallic, with bright white metallic (Scale 75 Speed Metal/White Alchemy) drybrushed over it. Is it just me or does that Gryph-hound look a bit peeved that his owner is walking around with what could be a relative hanging over his shoulder? If you really can’t wait to get your hands on more Stormcast Eternals or Orruk Warclans figures, there are already a host of other Stormcast Eternals and Orruk miniatures currently available that might keep you busy until future AoS 3.0 releases. I neglected to take step-by-step photos while painting, so here are the recipes and a couple of screenshots! I use mostly non-GW paints, but the exact paints are less important than the colors and the techniques.
