If you are looking to buy scented wax melts with great scent throw, you've found the right place, whether for yourself or from one of our gift sets. What Is A Tea Light Wax Tart Burner/Wax Melter? Our melts have a strong scent throw because the oil is heated from the melt without a 'direct' application of heat (i.e. the flame of a candle). A candle can simply be lit but the scent will remain the same, but to use wax melts you will need a wax melter. If your purchasing wax tarts you haven't made yourself, then you will not know the detailed information (such as what temperature the wax was previously heated to etc). What is Scent Throw? When it comes to burners for larger wax melts, larger wax burners are better. They are safer as they tend to heat up faster and more evenly, distributing the heat better than smaller ones due to their increased surface area. You also need to ensure the gap between your flame and the base of your melt pool is at least 10cm whether you are using a two, four or eight hour tealight, the gap needs to be the same for safety, to allow air to circulate effectively and to reduce the risk of fires. How do I store my wax melts?Traditionally, tea light wax tart burners burn hotter, meaning they give a stronger scent throw (the wax gets hotter), however, this high heat leads typically to a faster release of the oils from the wax. Electric burners, which use a ‘lamp’ light to heat the wax, typically have lower scent throws, as they often heat the wax to a lower temperature. Our wax melt gift boxes aren't just for Christmas! Throughout the year, we have a number of wax melt gift boxes, including our fabulous mens wax melt gift boxes! Our wax melts are designed to enjoy yourself or as beautiful gifts. Paraffin is coloured as it is a waste product and then bleached to make it white. We certainly wouldn’t want to breathe any fumes from this, or allow our customers or pets to! At the same temperature, you can now add a pinch of orange dye to the wax. Stir this in until the wax is all one colour and the dye chips have melted. Then add a small amount of mica powder to the wax and stir until all the powder is blended in. Wax Cosy Owl sources only the highest quality premium candle wax to ensure our products provide you with the perfect reliable materials to make your ideal candle. There are a variety of different types of waxes from which candles can be made. These varieties stem from two main sources, natural and mineral, and both comprise of many different qualities and facets. Wholesale candle wax volumes are available with 800g, 5kg, 10kg and 25kg weights available. Different types of wax Natural waxes, such as vegetable wax and soy wax, have a light and creamy colour to them whilst producing a slight plant-like fragrance when burnt. Made from natural oils, such as those from the rapeseed plant and the soya bean, these waxes are a sustainable alternative to more popular paraffin waxes as they are 100% natural in origin. Soy wax is a particularly popular natural wax as its’ scent throw is far stronger than rapeseed waxes and is far less likely to trigger allergies than other forms of wax. Mineral waxes, of which paraffin is the most widely used, are made from petroleum and benefit from a very clean, odourless burn when in its purest state. White in colour and very easy…

Why not add a touch of sparkle to your wax melts? Our glitters, range in colour, size and shape to add character to your creations, that float as they melt. This is a simple but completely effective cheat to make your melts smell longer! Heat is needed to enable the scent to be released from the melt, however, it isn’t continually needed! There can be a little clear/white smoke that can be seen when a wax melt is burning. If you are using wax tarts that have been made in a natural wax (such as ours!) then this is harmless.

Pour 50g of pillar wax into a bain marie or double boiler on a medium heat. Stir occasionally to encourage melting. As long as wax tarts are kept out of reach and sight of children and pets, and are made out of natural wax (not paraffin) and are crafted correctly, they are a safe way to enjoy a strong cost effective fragrance solution for your home. Can wax melts be used in an oil burner? The main disadvantages are that the tealights often need to be replaced. Secondly, the use of a open flame does present a fire risk, so extra care must be taken. How are wax melts different to scented candles This will soften the wax that is held to the burner. Using one hand, hold the burner. Using the other hand, lightly press the wax to the edge of the burner. If you have an electric burner, simply turn it on for a minute or so until the wax loosens. Can wax melts be reused?

The continued high heat can rapidly release the remaining fragrance from the melt, reducing its life. With the wax pool still hot and warm, it will continue to release fragrance until it cools! We know our melts are long lasting, and we're proud to sell them! Should wax melts smoke? We love innovation. OIl burners can often be a bit too small. Essential Oils An essential oil does it all, from gorgeous fragrance to aromatherapeutic healing. The key to using essential oils is to identify your area of need and find an oil suitable to help you with that need. Our wide range of essential oils can be used individually, targeting specific areas of your physical and mental health. Or use them together creating a stunning blend targeting multiple areas all at once while also building a sensational fragrance medley. The condensed nature of the oils means a small amount will go a long way, allowing you to layer fragrances. All our essential oils mix easily with wax, soap bases and augeo oils without hindering the initial purpose if the product. A carrier oil dilutes an essential oil, allowing you to harvest the healing properties of the essential oil through massage and aromatherapy without harming your skin. All our oils should be stored in a cool, dark places to prevent oxidation.

What is Scent Throw?

A strong scent throw is determined not only by how much oil has been used in a product, but also by other factors including how hot or cold your room is, how small or large it is, and if there are any draughts or windows open. The fragrance oil will degrade over time, and the scent can start to evaporate into the environment. The wax may also start to degrade meaning the scent is no longer as strong or can be smelt. We design our wax melts to be great air fresheners to really scent your environment! Are wax melts environmentally friendly? Tip: If you would like a long lasting scent throw, once set and cooled, place the lid on top of the melts and store for 2 weeks. This will allow the scent to be stronger with a longer curing time. Our Liquid Dyes are great for wax melts as they are very highly concentrated and available in a selection of colours, which you can mix to find your perfect shade. Due to their high concentration, a little goes a long way, meaning the dyes will last and you can create endless possibilities of colour. From lighter, pastel shades through to rich, intense colours. Our top tip is letting the melt fully turn to liquid in the burner, and keeping it going for another 3 minutes or so. This allows the wax to get to a good temperature, and you should be able to clearly smell the melt. At this point, blow out the flame!
