About this deal

Based on Disney's animated film "Beauty and the Beast, " this follow-up to Valentino's "Fairest of All" explores how the prince, once jovial and beloved by his people, became a reclusive and bitter monster. That being said, I do like the twist of James’s backstory and how his story entwines with the other villains we have seen.

In this book their role in everything was extremely nasty, especially because as a reader you already know how Hook's wish to find Neverland will end. Regarding the story, I liked it a great deal - I thought James was a really interesting character and his descent into Captain Hook proved more interesting than I imagined. I found myself pleasantly surprised by the path that the author chose to take and caught myself wishing that the original story had some of this backstory included in it. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH).While I have enjoyed all the Villains novels to date, this one gave me the greatest angst and discomfort in knowing what becomes of Captain James Hook and how desperate his beginnings were. I've read most of this series so far (I think I somehow managed to miss Cruella's story in Evil Thing) so when I spotted Hook's story on the shelf in my local supermarket, I snatched it up. I don't want to give too much away, but I really loved how smoothly everything fit into this background tale and how everything we eventually get to see in the animated movie has not changed one bit. She has been working so hard, her fiancé Kristoff suggests she take a night off to visit her sister Elsa, the Snow Queen. Overall, this was a Hook backstory that had potential to be interesting but lacked the depth that would’ve made it so for me.

Despite an attempt to justify his moves and motives, it never felt right and ended up grating on me somewhat. Maybe I'd have enjoyed the stuff about the Kingdoms and Odd Sisters and all that more if I'd read the other books. But he finds himself the unwilling villain, beholden to at least 7 different witches, Blackbeard, Peter, crocodiles, and hell I lost count. Funny how much sympathy can be drawn for these “villains”, excellent narration and wonderful tale of piracy! Halloween Parade • The Disney Villains Halloween Showtime • The Villains Rockin’ Halloween • The Villains World • Villains Dance Party • Villains Mix and Mingle • Villains Night Out!The series books were definitely more interesting in the beginning than they have been with the past few. The 9th instalment in the hugely successful Villains Tales series, based on Disney's most infamous pirate, Captain Hook, tells the story of young James Bartholomew, the Lost Boy who never was. In the far north of the country, warlord Kumashiro is intrigued to learn more about the girl who he has been warned about by a seer.

James was a lost boy for all of six days after falling from his pram as a child, only for his mother to claim him on the seventh day before he could stay there permanently as a boy. You either hate or love them, but I'm quite impressed with the big scheme and plot they're working on, especially when you keep in mind that time in this universe is a strange and not so lineair thing. Before the story of the infamous Captain Hook was another, of a baby stripped of his chance to become a Lost Boy.Little does he know that his dreams are falling right into the hands of the Odd Sisters, witches who have been sowing chaos throughout the worlds and creating villains everywhere. He was made a villain by the odd sisters, his greed and his want to be part of the lost boys again ruined him. It’s what drives him to seek out pirates and join a crew so he can seek out this mysterious land he once visited. I feel like the “becoming a villain” parts of these books are so rushed they almost feel fake or unbelievable. Tout d’abord, retrouver mon Capitaine Crochet et l’univers des pirates ça a été le must du must pour moi pendant cette lecture.

Blackbeard at one point tells James about a curse placed on him by the Odd Sisters and James sees this as a means of his re-entrance back into Never Land. After all, they were paved with only the best and most innocent of intentions: to fulfill his childhood dream. His obsession with getting back to Neverland, with *SPOILER* wanting to be a kid again, *END SPOILER* could’ve been interesting, but it wasn’t really explored, just something I was repeatedly told.Well, he arrives and everything goes wrong - he's seen as an adult and rejected as a prospective Lost Boy. He certainly had my attention in the beginning because I was intrigued to see how this man from a privileged background would survive with a ragtag bunch of misfits. But all his plans are forgotten when he arrives in the small mountain stronghold of San Gabriel and meets her.
