About this deal

The book was evidently complied shortly after the death of Fred West in jail so the events are all so raw - and this shows in the interviews. However, Fred and Rose married despite the baby having a different father, and in turn had their first child together – Annie Marie. However, it was Fred West’s obsession with sex that would be the real catalyst for the hell that was forming within the walls of 25 Cromwell St. Not to say that any of that excuses his behavior, it is just an intriguing look into Fred's psyche and childhood which I have not read before. The book also includes eight pages of full colour photographs showing the West family at various times during their lives as well as snippets from inside 25 Cromwell St.

e. Stephen and Mae West’s words) were obtained, the book’s structure, and ultimately identifies the book as part of Stephen and Mae’s ‘rehabilitation process’. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Fred had told Mae that it was his father who had taught him that it was a father’s duty to ‘break in’ his daughters. Super interesting to read about something that happened so close to home and strange to recognise a pot of the places written about.Fred and Rose West truly felt that they could do whatever they wanted in their home, away from prying eyes. Very much built around the uncovering of bodies and lengthy investigation into what went on, this second section reveals a vast amount of confusion and emotional conflict between Stephen and Mae. I don’t think this was ever meant to be a work of literary genius, but merely a life lived in the home of some of Britain’s worst serial killers. First published back in December of 1995, Stephen and Mae West’s book ‘Inside 25 Cromwell St’ provided a unique first-person account of their upbringing as two of the surviving children from Fred and Rosemary West’s family.

It's hard to look at this objectively, because quite early on, Stephen in particular constantly repeats how much he still loves his mother, and Mae says how her father was 'just weird' and couldn't help behaving the way he did. The book begins with a three-page Editor’s Preface in which the two editors (referenced as TG and PG) detail the reasons for putting together the book, how the source material (i. It's good to know that Anne-Marie (the oldest child, half-sister to the others) has grown into a dignified woman and I wish all the other children only the best. Mae is very loyal to her mum but admits her childhood was unusual , very strict and she had to put up with her fathers talk of sex.Their sister, Heather, was 16 when her parents murdered her after she tried to escape – then buried her in the garden. What about feeling sympathy for the numerous girls murdered by their hands and abused for their sexual gratification, or their sister Heather cut up and stashed under the floor in the basement? Without wanting to appear overly sceptical, one can’t help but feel that the two editors (no doubt fellow reporters for said newspaper) are more concerned with milking the story for all its worth than the actual rehabilitative welfare of Stephen and Mae. Written by their children, who were no doubt in the house during some of their more hideous crimes, adds a personal touch which adds more depth to the book and makes a more engaging read.
