Had it been a major studio project, this film would have had a soundtrack enriched with all sorts of different bells and whistles. Based on a true story, our "hero," played with charming gusto by Josh Duhamel, robs 59 banks in Canada, but the robberies aren't especially violent, and there are even some laugh-out-loud moments in how polite and Canadian the interactions are between the robber and tellers.This is not a documentary nor was it written to be one, but if you look online for facts about the flying bandit, they managed to be much more accurate than most movies "based on true events". While treading in familiar cat-and-mouse territory, this is still a true-crime thriller that's actually thrilling. He was ever so successful (59 bank hits in all) until he met local mobster Kay (Gibson) who eventually led to Galvan's arrest. It’s a tale that involves dented nobility and economic pressure, disguises and friendships, and a romance of sorts. became known as “The Flying Bandit,” traveling all over Canada to rob nearly 50 banks over a three-year period.
