About this deal

Significant Wardrobe Shift: During the San Francisco run, without his secret identity, Matt decides to discard his regular costume for a completely red three-piece suit, but he goes back to the classic costume in the end. So there’s a lot of “No I’m not Daredevil” dialogue from Matt throughout the book that I felt could’ve just been ignored. However, when he starts asking for the sort of hyper-detailed information that the trope can usually supply, she flatly tells him that she's getting all her info from Google Maps. One of my favorite parts of this book is when Daredevil teams up with Spider-Man and they're just standing around all buddy buddy talking about good places to swing around New York.

I hope most readers who read Mark Waid's run to have read Daredevil in the past from other creative teams and since the consensus is strongly positive, I feel like **I** am the only one that didn't seem to enjoy it. As this is a first volume, Waid does his best to familiarise any new readers jumping onboard with Daredevil/Matt Murdock and his abilities. Daredevil Volume 1 was rather bland, but perhaps I'll revisit another Daredevil comic at some point.Through innovative panels showing figures made up of a particular sound to illustrate how Matt “sees” them or through a kind of pop-art version of a street scene where words representing a sound or smell replace objects, they provide the reader with a unique and clever perspective on Daredevil. Rather than representing clients in the courtroom, Matt and Foggy begin to counsel those who are unable to pay for a lawyer, instead choosing to represent themselves. Daredevil finds out that the NYPD has been infiltrated by members of the white supremacist group the Sons of the Serpent, and thus realizes that any of the cops in the courthouse with him could be one of them.

Meanwhile, the Nelson and Murdock law offices struggle to celebrate the holidays as insurmountable problems descend upon them. Also the product description is incorrect in that there is no Punisher team up in the issues included in this volume. He takes Matt and Foggy from the courtroom and puts them in their office, coaching people who can’t afford their counsel to represent themselves in court. Open Secret: As of Mark Waid's run, virtually everyone suspects Matt is Daredevil — forcing him to play the bumbling blind man in an attempt to throw people off his scent.Kirsten provides directions to Matt over an earpiece as he's getting re-adjusted to San Fransisco's geography.

For years, he was nothing more than a C-list Joker knockoff who no one took seriously, in-universe or out. Cap needed super soldier serum to make him so formidable and Daredevil just needed chemicals to blind him. It's what forces Foggy and Matt to adjust their business model to now serve as legal/self-representation consultants. Having turned his world upside over the past several years, Matt Murdock realizes justice may not be blind to his past and villains may not be the only ones looking for answers. They had to be careful, they didn't want to lose those tendencies that made the character compelling in the first place. His thin line and enticing layouts match Rivera and he somehow evokes a nostalgia without ever being less than modern. After suffering through over 100 issues of depressing storylines that dragged him to the deepest bowels of hell and back (sometimes literally), Daredevil steps back into the light with a new creative team, a new lease on life, and some good fun stories to go with it. I'm not sure what every reader's history here in this community is but from my point of view, I kind of expect readers of Mark Waid's Daredevil to at least have exposure to Miller's, Smith's, Bendis' and Brubaker's runs . I like how Waid and company are going out of their way to show how hard it is to get around without sight, even with super powers.

The only thing I didn’t like was the continued fat jokes about Foggy, which are really old at this point (especially the scene where he eats a whole cheesecake with his bare hands, which was just weird and gross — Foggy isn’t a disgusting person, he knows how to use utensils! I also liked the fact that Mark Waid made some references to Matt’s past events in “Shadowland” as it does indeed affect Matt’s current life, especially with the whole city knowing that he is Daredevil and Matt repenting for his actions in “Shadowland. I'm not sure what every reader's history here in this community is but from my point of view, I kind of expect readers of Mark Waid's Daredevil to at least have exposure to Miller's, Smith's, Bendis' and Brubaker's runs. Paolo Rivera and Chris Samnee’s art is a particular highlight for me as well, as they did some very innovative and interesting stuff to show how Matt sees the world. While Waid is shouldering the writing duties as well as infusing a new attitude into Daredevil, Rivera and Martin apply golden age visuals as well as their own style to create something altogether unique.Mark Waid (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, Irredeemable, RUSE) joins neo-legendary artists Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin for a new spin on Daredevil that will leave you gasping for air. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Nope, this is a series that shows Matt Murdock trying to live life in a new happy direction while also trying to convince the general public he's not Daredevil.
